Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop and Café in Cedaredge, CO, is embarking on an exciting new chapter as co-founder Willow Moreland returns to her family’s ranch, leaving Tanquerae Thompson at the helm. Together, the two have built a beloved local institution, known for its award-winning pastries and runner-up Best Deli. Now, Tanquerae will continue to serve the community, while unveiling a refreshed brand and expanded sourdough loyalty program.
After co-founding Sugar Mama’s in 2021, Willow Moreland has decided to return to her roots on her family’s ranch. Her decision is a personal one, but the friendship and collaboration with Tanquerae remain as strong as ever. The two continue to raise their children together, and Willow remains a cherished part of the Cedaredge community.
As part of this new chapter, Sugar Mama’s will be rolling out a refreshed brand, featuring an updated color palette and a slight change in their name’s punctuation—moving the apostrophe to better reflect the bakeshop’s evolving identity. This modern twist complements their continued dedication to offering delicious, handmade products.
"Sharing my passion for good food and feeding people fills my heart with so much joy. Giving back tot he community that supported my dream means so much to me. I want to give back the love I have received."
To celebrate the changes, Sugar Mama’s is also expanding their popular loyalty program. Customers can now earn a free sourdough loaf after purchasing 10, alongside the existing coffee and pastry rewards. This expansion highlights their commitment to serving both their long-time regulars and newcomers alike.
In addition, Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop & Café is excited to introduce the Sponsor-A-Sandwich program in collaboration with the Grand Mesa Business Guild. This initiative allows individuals and businesses to purchase certificates that can be used like cash at the register. It’s a way for the community to support one another and earn good karma points.
Tanquerae Thompson has also generously donated valuable wall space to Cedaredge High School Art Students, providing them with a venue to display and sell their artwork. Her support of local talent and community initiatives truly makes her a real-life fairy.
